LIFT is seeking a part time Executive Director 

LIFT is seeking a talented, strategic leader to chart the future and lead the organization to its next chapter. In partnership with the Board of Directors, the Executive Director (ED) will lead fundraising and donor cultivation opportunities and provide strategic, operational, financial, and managerial responsibilities for the organization.

The position will offer the candidate an extremely flexible work environment and autonomy. Up to 24 hours (3 days per week) is required. The candidate will have flexibility to work remotely from home. Occasional evening hours are needed.

Primary Responsibilities

Leadership – Partner with the Board of Directors and founder to identify and chart a vision for the future of the organization. With Board support, develop the organization’s strategic plan, and execute it to further the mission of LIFT. Oversee, monitor, and communicate progress toward the goals within the strategic plan and adapt as necessary. Identify and create Board committees, including Program, Finance, and Development. Recruit, retain, and engage new and current Board members and other volunteers.

Fundraising –Cultivate and deepen relationships with LIFT’s donors and identify new donor prospects in order to meet or exceed LIFT’s annual organizational needs. Execute the activities that are outlined in LIFT’s Development Plan. These include major gift solicitation, direct marketing, and revenue generation and oversight of LIFT’s signature fundraising event. (Most logistics of event execution will be managed by a third party.)

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will be a creative, collaborative, and action-oriented person with exceptional communication and relationship building skills. They will be comfortable and confident in a role that requires autonomy, as this is the sole staff member of LIFT USA. The successful candidate will hold a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university and have a demonstrated track record of successful fundraising and board development.

The successful candidate will bring a “can do” attitude, and bring many of the following professional qualifications and personal attributes:

  • Professional experience in development, sales, and/or marketing
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven time management and project management experience
  • Ability to build relationships with potential donors and business partners
  • Innovative, creative thinker
  • Strategic planning skills
  • Experience in working with Board of Directors and other volunteers
  • Demonstrated competence in planning, budgeting and forecasting for an annual fund
  • Computer proficiency

Compensation and Benefits

The salary offered for this position is commensurate with experience.

LIFT offers an environment that values autonomy and flexibility. Candidate may set their own schedule.

The position requires 24 hours per week.

About LIFT USA

LIFT USA (Leading India’s Future Today) is an 18-year-old nonprofit dedicated to developing leadership excellence in motivated and talented youth in Tamil Nadu, India by providing access to quality education and a home environment for youth with high potential who would typically be denied schooling due to limited access to resources. 

LIFT addresses the systemic issue of poverty in two ways. It provides a homelike environment for students to live away from their families during the school year. Students live together in hostels which relieves their impoverished families from the financial burden of feeding, clothing, and educating them.  It also provides for a high-quality education with no financial commitment by the student or their family.  By providing a high-quality education for its students, LIFT strives to eliminate systemic poverty.

The Fundraising and nonprofit administration takes place in the U.S. Nearly 100% of LIFT’S annual fund is derived from U.S. donors.
