Ever wanted to talk with a LIFT scholar? Here’s your chance. On Saturday, April 30, several LIFT students in India will join Chicagoans via video conference for a game of “Transcontinental Simon Says.” Please join us for WBEZ’s 4th annual Global Activism Expo at UIC Forum ( 725 W. Roosevelt Rd. ). LIFT founder, Fr. Jamels James live from Tamil Nadu, India, via video will chat with us and several LIFT students. Visit with our bright youngsters as they take the Chicago expo participants through a fun game of “Simon Says,” which we humbly submit is the first ever, if not largest, version of “Transcontinental Simon Says.” In addition, the students will speak to how LIFT has helped them transform their lives and their communities.
This opportunity is due in part to Jerome McDonnell’s WBEZ interview with Fr. Jamels last March, 2010 for the Global Activism segment of Worldview. The Global Activism Expo is WBEZ’s largest event of the year and we are excited to be a part of this remarkable celebration of culture and world community – complete with music & food. It is a gathering of hundreds of Chicago-area global activists, each providing ways to get involved and join their efforts. Please come join the LIFT volunteer team as we share our stories and invite new volunteers to join our outreach. Doors open at NOON and stay open until 6 p.m. It’s FREE, so bring your children, your neighbors, your friends and family.
