There REALLY is something about Mary of Hinsdale, IL!
Fourth grader, Mary, invited Father Jamels to come Oak School and speak with her Kids Care Club about the children in LIFT. She then started a pen pal program along with fifty of her classmates. The children exchanged letters, stickers and trinkets throughout the school year. In March, Mary decided she wanted to do more to help her new friends in India. She encouraged her Kids Care Club to hold a used book-sale with a goal of raising $500 to send one child to school for a year. She then reached out to community members and parents asking for matching donations. The Oak school book-sale raised $500, and with 3 donors matching those funds, Oak School wrote a $2000 check to LIFT…sending FOUR children to school for a year! Thanks Mary!! We look forward to honoring you at the event this June.
